We had a craving for chicken and waffles but found this hole in the wall spot instead. We ordered the catfish, shrimp, hush puppies and macaroni & cheese combo for $7.99 and the Mr. B's special which was chicken, catfish, corn fritters, fries and hush puppies for $8.49. We each wanted a side of collards but the cashier suggested getting a large because it was cheaper and 2 cups of koolaid which was only $1.00 + free refills. We came out winning because it was a lot of food. The food was well seasoned, however, the catfish was a bit over cooked and super greasy. The shrimp, hush puppies and macaroni & cheese were also delicious. The corn fritters were my favorite. It was like eating a dessert and the koolaid was not too sweet. The place stayed busy while we were there. Some regulars and some newbies. I will definitely come back for a fulfilling meal.

I rarely do 5 star reviews but this is as good as it gets. Just clarification, I've not been to Catfish House that everyone raves about on here. Flipped a coin then saw the greens on the menu and decided to come here. (Catfish house won the flip). It's in the plaza with the one stop convenient store btw. I passed it up of course. Looks like a hole in the wall with a few tables and a flat screen with the Carolina v Cardinals game on. Guy outside selling purses and accessories. Ambience is on par with other good soul food places I've been Ordered the 2 piece catfish with fries and hushpuppies. Added a side of collard greens. What I really liked is that he showed me the food when it came out to make sure it was to my liking. Either the cutie behind the counter or the cook threw an extra piece of catfish in there. Thanks ;). Looked delicious. Even stopped at La Margarita for a rita and got home and it was still warm Yummy yummy yummy. I couldn't even finish 1 piece of catifsh , half the fries and 1 hushpuppy. Catfish is seasoned to perfection and the portions are large. I would prob try to sub the fries next time but I'm not a fry fan, and the hushpuppy was delicious. How about that homemade tartar sauce? I hate tarter sauce and I was dipping everything in that sauce. Collard greens are Really good!. Best catfish I've had here in DFW area so far and I'm picky as you know if you read my reviews. I'm stuffed and can't wait to warm up the leftovers over the next few days. I would fall asleep but football is on. Come get it

I have been meaning to fulfill my catfish fix for the past few months. Irving as far as I know doesn't have any dedicated catfish restaurants within the city. I live very close to Lee's Catfish & Chicken Shack and was excited to see that it was opening up right across the street. With that said, though, it would be a few months until I gave it a shot. I made sure to order something small for my first visit, (two catfish filets, hush puppies (3), & fries. The catfish is the perfect size, really large filets, and cooked to perfection. The cornmeal (I believe it's cornmeal) and seasoning on the catfish was very tasteful without trying too hard. The hush puppies were standard but still delicious and the crinkled fries have a sort of subtle seasoning but wasn't able make it out as I was too busy enjoying the delicious catfish, lol. :) I definitely recommend this place for catfish and am sure, although only having been there once, you will not be disappointed. Next time I'll try out their chicken. I did spot a combo that I believe came with 1 catfish filet, 1 chicken, fries and jalapeño poppers so that'll be my next meal once I stop by. Give it a try!
